Forestry/Natural Resources Program

Forest Management and Operations teaches students the entry level skill to work as a professional logger. Skills attained through the program include GPS and mapping, compass orienteering, boundary location, harvest layout, tree identification and silviculture. Chainsaw operation and maintenance, tree felling, and machine operation of a skidder, processor and forwarder are also covered. Best management and sound environmental practices are the focus of the program. Upon completion of the program graduates can receive their Apprenticeship in the Certified Logging Professional Program and can also receive college credits in Forestry through our articulation agreement with the University of Maine Wildland Firefighting certification and cpr/first aid.
