Early Childhood Education Program

This course will provide students in grades 9-12 with an introductory-level knowledge base in the field of Early Childhood Education.

The Early Childhood program works with Northern Maine Community College and The University of Maine at Farmington to offer college level courses as a college pathway for students enrolled in the Early Childhood program. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 15 college credits on a 4-year pathway.

Students will complete a variety of lesson plans, activities and assignments as well as participate in fieldwork at our on-site center and for returning students off-site placement. This program has a collaboration classroom on site with The Aroostook County Action Program that provides our students with hands-on experience. Returning students are also offered the opportunity for off-site experience at local participating schools, childcare centers, and with in-home providers.

This course is designed to prepare students for careers in the early childhood education field. Students will have the opportunity to earn a variety of certifications related to the early childhood education trade including First Aid and CPR, BHP certification, Mandated Reporter training, Food handling training, OSHA 10 certification and more. Students will demonstrate industry competencies by adhering to guidelines outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ).
