Region Two Student Services Coordinator
Alison Britton , has come full circle with regards to the Early Childhood Education program and now as the instructor at Region Two. Her professional career began several years ago at Region Two, sitting as a student in the Early Childhood Education Occupations course during her senior year of High School. The course really opened her eyes to the expansive opportunities and career paths available to her in the field of Early Childhood Education. Upon completion of the course she enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program at the University of Maine at Farmington. While pursuing her degree there she was able to gain experience working with young children at a variety of developmental stages (infants, toddlers, pre-school, and school-aged) in a variety of settings (playgroups, child-care, nursery school, Head Start, and elementary schools). Once Alison had completed her bachelor's degrees and earned teaching certifications to work with children ages 0-5 as well as teach grades K-3, she moved to the Augusta area where she worked for Head Start as a Teacher/Family Service Worker while attending classes on the weekends to earn her master's degree in Early Care and Education Leadership and Policy from Wheelock College. Upon completion of that degree program, she moved back to her home-town of Houlton and continue working as a Teacher/Family Service Worker for Head Start within the Aroostook County Action Program. Now that Alison is a Region 2 employee she looks forward to sharing her passion for the field of Early Childhood Education with CTE students as she helps them become prepared to enter the field of ECE themselves.
